1. Setelah booming di sosial media tentangserial Netflix “Gadis Kretek” pada November 2023 lalu, Apakah anda tertarikuntuk menontonnya?	Serial ini memang sering muncul di berandasosial media saya, mulai dari kostumnya, cuplikan filmnya hingga diparodikan oleh banyak content creator. Hal tersebut yang menjadikan saya tertarik untuk menontonserial Netflix “Gadis Kretek ini”.
2. Bagaimana kesan pertama anda setelahmenonton serial gadis kretek?	Series ini sangat menarik dari segi latar dan alurnya, alur filmya maju mundur, kisahGadis Kretek dimunculkan Kembali oleh cucudan anak mereka dimasa depan. Latarnya juga sangat apik dengan berlokasi di Kota M sekitar tahun 1960an.
3. Apakah ada karakter tertentu yang menarikbagi anda?	Kalau tokoh jangan ditanya, semua yang memerankan serial ini merupakan actor terbaik Indonesia mulai dari Dian Sastro, Arya Saloka, Putri Marino, Sheila Dara dan Tissa Biani. Apalagi tokoh “Jeng Yah” yang diperankan oleh Dian Sastro, itu sangat memberikan kesan mendalam setelah sayamenontonnya mulai dari kegigihannya dalambekerja hingga kisah percintaannya yang sangat dramatis dengan Soeraja.
4. Apa harapan anda terhadap series dan film Indonesia kedepannya?	Film Indonesia sudah menjadi daya Tarik bagisaya sejak lama, namun semakin lama kualitas filmnya semakin bagus. Saya berharap kualitasnya akan terus meningkathingga ranah internasional.

Netflix series "Gadis Kretek": A Story of Love, Business, Culture and Rebellion.

Netflix has once again captured the attention of viewers with the Indonesian series "Gadis Kretek", adapted from the novel by Ratih Kumala. A series set against the backdrop of the rich culture and rebellious spirit of a woman named Jeng Yah directed by Kamila Andini and Ifa Isfansyah, the series offers a fresh and interesting perspective on a pivotal period in Indonesian history.

The series is based on the background of the establishment of a kretek cigarette business in Indonesia. The beginning of "Gadis Kretek" is told with the story of the search for "Jeng Yah" by the Soeraja children, especially Tegar, Karim, and Lebas assisted by a young girl named Arum.  As they search, the audience is presented with flashbacks to the youth of Soejagad and Idroes Moeria who competed in the kretek cigarette industry and the two main characters Jeng Yah and Soeraja who portray the glamour of drama, rivalry, and forbidden love involving these families.

With strong dialogue and rich emotional nuances, "Gadis Kretek" on Netflix is not just entertainment, but also a work of art that celebrates Indonesia's diversity and history. The series provides an in-depth look at family struggles and cultural richness, giving new meaning to Indonesia's kretek cigarette heritage.

In describing the experience of watching the series, Maulidasaid, "The series is very interesting in terms of setting and plot, the flow of the film goes back and forth, the story of Gadis Kretek is resurrected by their grandchildren and children in the future. The setting is also very neat by being located in Kota M around the 1960s".

 

The main character Jeng Yah in the Netflix series fascinates viewers with her passion for kretek and her love journey.

 

The use of kretek as a symbol of courage and independence is at the centre of the story, enriching the message to the audience. The director brilliantly captures the nuances of the novel, presenting the wisdom of the story with stunning visuals. "All those who play this series are Indonesia's best actors ranging from Dian Sastro, Ario Bayu, Arya Saloka, Putri Marino, Sheila Dara and Tissa Biani, especially the character "Jeng Yah" played by Dian Sastro, it really gives a deep impression after I watch it, starting from her persistence in working to her very dramatic love story with Soeraja". Maulida added
